A couple years ago, my girlfriend and I bought a camper van we named Vanessa. We've taken some fun trips including many visits to national parks. I even drove Vanessa to a writing conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico. That was a blast!
Unfortunately, we didn't get to use Vanessa much this summer. Our son had a couple of knee surgeries which meant family trips were put on hold. It wouldn't have been good for him to be cooped up with his knee brace.
With fall upon us in the Pacific Northwest and the winter fast approaching, my girlfriend suggested a quick getaway before we store Vanessa for the rest of the year.
We visited Wenatchee in Central Washington (still in the 509!) this past weekend. We walked a portion of the Apple Capital Loop, a 10-mile trail along the Columbia River and through the city. It was so beautiful we couldn't stop commenting on it.
My girlfriend is an amazing cook, and she takes it to new heights while we camp. She prepared homemade chicken pot pies one night. On the other, she made Monte Cristo sandwiches. I know it's glamping (glamorous camping), but it's pretty crazy to eat like that while away from home. When it’s my turn to cook, we go out for a meal. I know my limits around a stove.
We're looking forward to our next trip to Wenatchee. There were so many things we didn't get to do.
Do you like to camp or glamp? I’d love to know.
Also, would you like to see a camping recipe or two that my girlfriend uses?
